Tonal still-life study

Shown under a descriptive catalogue label.

A pale cylinder, a grey rectangular block and a dark crumpled sphere sit on a light ground, with sharply contrasting shadows.

A still life is developed tone by tone, moving from deep black to bright white. The work investigates how reflected light, cast shadows and surface texture transform an underdrawing into an encounter with depth.
