Silent Night

The Holy Family shelters in a tent in the foreground of a crowded landscape, beneath a large orange mushroom cloud and dark, radiating bands of sky.

A Nativity scene is placed beneath the overwhelming light of an atomic blast. The illuminated Holy Family and the burning sky bring sacred and destructive light into the same image. Developed through research into Palestinian art and cultural preservation, the work considers innocence, persecution, human suffering and perseverance.
